A history of handheld videogame consoles in the form of a virtual flash-based handheld console. Features a lot of deliciously hack-y coding.

Play Flash Game (Open in new window)
This flash game was made in 3 days during the 2007 TOjam meeting. It was a lot of hard work and a lot of sleep was lost, but it was fun, and clearly the results were totally worth it. Game design and art by me, code by Bao Nguyen-huu.

"Super Cheese Repulser"
Play Flash Game (Open in new window)
Made at TOjam 2008. We came into the event with an elaborate game planned out, but we quickly realized that we wouldn't be able to finish it. So instead we went with this idea that had been floating around in my head. Of course, it's much more fun with two players.
I programmed the cheese repulsion mechanic. Player and enemy art by me, level art and design by Duy Nguyen-huu, and most code by Bao Nguyen-huu.

A short animation I made for a class. Just some senseless violence.

Character Art
These are drawn in flash using a tablet and the pressure sensitivity of the paintbrush tool. Using vector art makes it easy to colour in the finished lineart, although shading must be approached differently. The final pieces are however very scalable and this makes it quite useful for making art for print.
You can use the right-click flash menu to zoom in an examine the art in more detail.

Star Wars Fanart
After watching the latest Indiana Jones movie, I was for some reason compelled to draw these. The plan is to add to them until I eventually have a collection of scenes from all the movies. Actually, I still haven't gotten around to seeing the 3rd prequel movie yet...
Some of the blending modes in these files will need the latest flash player to work correctly.

Influenza Media
Influenza Media was a start-up company building flash based games designed to be distributed to and usuable in the banner spaces on websites. Whole working there I had the opportunity to get some extensive flash art experience. These are some of the assets created for the games we made there.
